A fun and handy flute tapping Kontakt instrument.

It was interesting to see how a tuned percussive instrument made out of the taps of flute pads against the holes would work. The result is a highly playable and unique percussive instrument for Kontakt V4.2 or above. I multi-sampled taps recorded from the flute’s mouthpiece. The mod wheel switches between the over blown flute and the tapping. A dedicated set of convolution reverbs can be selected by dragging on the reverb select text on the custom interface, plus a knob so you can dial in the amount of reverb desired into the mix.

Add reverberation to your music. Simulate small intimate rooms or large concert halls. Reverb is being used to add reverb or echo to your recordings, to voice samples, any instruments or more complex samples and also mixdowns.

***To clear up a few misconceptions: Reverb delivers a very clean reverberation of your audio.
To increase the reverb intervals: increase the room size parameter
To increase the absorption of sound due to walls and carpets: increase the decay parameter. Note that 0 decay means no absorption and therefore total reflection
The equalizer is used to model what frequencies are reflected since different materials of walls, carpets etc reflect different frequencies. If you encounter problems, please visit the support forum and post a question/request. ***

Set room size and decay to adjust reflection time.
The greater the enclosed size of the room you’re in, the longer the reverb time. This is of course true only to a certain extent. The larger the room or chamber, the louder your source signal needs to be to produce any significant level of reverb tail.
Set decay to influence how fast the sound waves are absorbed.

Predelay is the time between direct signal and start of reverb portion. The more space between you and walls or other reflective objects, the greater the predelay.

Model the reflections with a triband equalizer to adjust for different reflections at different frequencies.
Modify the stereo image of the reverbs to increase or decrease stereo width.
Set wet and dry volume separatly. And make sure to check the levels on the stereo level meter to prevent clipping.

Bounce your new created reverb to disc as 16 bit wav file.

Record your music via built in microphone.
Use AudioCopy and Paste to interchange music with apps like FourTrack.
Use the built in wifi server to transfer your music samples to and from your desktop computer.

There is a live mode available where only the reverberated samples are send to the output. 3 presets for convenience live performance.

Calculations are done internally using 32 bit floating point. The algorithm used was first proposed by Schroeder and Moorer. To compensate for the sometimes metallic reverbs a tri band equalizer has been added in series. Just filter out unwanted reflections to get the sound you want.

No.4 in the microtape series – Mountain Water.

An assortment of waterfalls, streams and stormy church bells from the Austrian Alps, recorded to tape and each mapped to a different key. Some samples looped for a continuous running water effect, some duplicated with immediate and slow tape-head engaged attack and release. With 5 token presets, this isn’t designed as a synth, like Tronto for example, but as a player, with a virtual tape machine running all the time beneath the engine. You have 3 types of control (via the ‘Degrader’) over tape damage – via filter,amplitude or pitch, with a tape speed slider as well, so Boards of Canada style sounds are easily obtainable, or you can set the controls to zero to bypass the effect.

There is a simple low pass filter (no resonance) that can be connected to velocity (as can amplitude) for instrumental expression, but also more interestingly is hard wired to the ADSR envelopes, so a slower attack also brings about a slower filter attack (if engaged), to emulate the tape head coming into contact with the tape (likewise with the release). The player also has a sample reverse function, as well as a saturation button with Tronsonic’s ‘magic wav’ impulse response (as found in Tronto) blended with Kontakt’s own saturation effect.

Chromaphone uses physical modeling to recreate the properties of two resonators interacting when being excited by mallets and virtual noise. Sound difficult to understand? Well Eli makes it all simple and fun! This synth is capable of creating incredibly expressive drum, percussion, string, and synth-like instruments, so hold the phone and check it out!

Eli begins with a video on the basic sonic structure of Chromaphone, followed by vids on how to browse Banks and Programs. The Interface and General Concepts of Chromaphone are then explored giving you a solid foundation in understanding this synth. The Mallet Module is then explained in detail as well as the Noise Module, Noise Envelope and Resonator sections.
